Cell Phone

To looking like this >

The first cell phones were big and clunky, and weighed around 2 lbs. You couldn't get much talk time on it before having to recharge it again. In 1984, people were lining up to buy this expensive cell phone. One of these could cost you up to nearly $4,000.

Today, the cell phone is much more inexpensive, and is much more useful. The charge can last for days, compared to a half an hour the old "brick" would last. Some things you can do with current cell phones:

You can surf the web, text people, take and download pictures, watch T.V, play games, use a calculator, keep a schedule, listen to music, search yellowpages, instant message, e-mail, have a gps, alarm clocks, and convert currency, length, volume. Cell phones today have basically no limit to them.

  1. That is a great picture. I remember when cell phones were just for the car, not many people had them. In 1996 I went on a cruise with friends and someone on the crusie was sitting on the deck before we pulled out of port and was using a phone like the one in the picture. By then cell phones where a little smaller than that. But he didn't see the need to get a new one when there was nothing wrong with the one he had. Cell phones have come along way since then! When I was a kid we went outside to play and didn't come home until dinner. Our parents couldn't get in touch with us. Now almost every kid you see has a cell phone and their parents can get a hold of them any time they want.

  2. I'm still a big fan of the Zack Morris phone but I would much rather have one of the newer phones that are out today. In my opinion phones are hands down still the best way to keep in touch. The downside is that the boss can always get in tough with you.

  3. When I was a young boy I used to watch the original Star Trek. In that show they had hand held devices called communicators that they would talk into to communicate with other crew members on board ship. I never dreamed that I would actually own one as time went on. In fact I think we have even surpassed the communicators on then with our version having the ability to take pictures, text, and internet. Technology is great!
