Fax Machines

Definition: A device that sends and receives printed pages or images over telephone lines by converting them to and from electronic signals.

A fax machine is used to send a hard copy of something from one place to another.

Many people have them in their homes, but they are more commonly used in the business place.

  1. The fax machine is a great invention. It comes in handy when you need paperwork/information right away. I know people who use it at work when they are trying to make settlement a house and the realtor or bank needs their signature or other information right away. It great way to send documents that someone in your company needs, but works at a different site. It has become a useful tool.

  2. The fax machine was a great tool to send information quickly if you didn't mind not seeing the documents clearly. Even today companies still use it and they have gotten better. In fact my employer uses it every night for the reports at the end of the night, and yet downtown still complains they can't see the report.

  3. The fact that the fax machine prints a hard copy is the reason it still exist today. Even though most people would rather receive emails with attachment, many companies, that are using software that can be edited, are reluctant to send electronic copies in fear of them being altered. However once they become more familiar with such software’s I think you will see the fax machine disappear.
