Here is a link to another blog on the history of e-mailing.

I believe that email is still becoming a new source of communication for small businesses. With the company I am currently with, there are many people switching over to e-mailing information and paper work apposed to sending it regular mail.
One major perk about sending information through e-mail is the response time. I also find that it is more reliable to e-mail paper work then to send it over fax.

No offense but it sounds like the comapny you work for is way behind the times. Email has for better or worse become the main communications method for the planet. I say for better or worse because I find that people rely on it far too much and there is a throw it over the fense mentality. If you wrote the email, you check off the to do list - but did the job really get done.
ReplyDeleteI think emailing and the "information highway" is a major reason people today seem much more stressed than at any other time in the past. There is this sense that one is involved in multiple virtual conversations at the same time and there is no way to keep up.
That last post was from Steve Gudknecht (gotta get credit) but for some reason I could only post it as anonymous.
ReplyDeleteEmailing is the most amazing thing. While I have been sitting here commenting on blogs, i have emailed someone back and forth at least 5 times. A phone call distracts me from what I am doing and makes the talk time longer. Email is quick and to the point, I believe it gets things said quicker. However, it is definitely an addiction that takes away from actually speaking to someone
ReplyDeleteE-mail is the quickest way to send a message with attachments. It is also useful when trying to reach someone and one of you cannot use the phone. With phone bills coming down and unlimited plans, people are freer to talk on the phone. On the other hand, using it as a bulletin board is a smart idea. You only need to create the message once, and then you could send it to anyone and everyone you want.
ReplyDeleteE-mailing is truely great and efficent. I completley agree with you in regards to the response time and the reliability of e-mailing paper work rather than faxing. I check my e-mail almost everyday, and I always use it for sending myself documents for when I move from computer to computer.
ReplyDeleteEmail is great! Although I still like to write handwritten letters from time to time! But as far as work...email is wonderful. Except for the people who abuse it. I get annoyed when a co-worker sitting next to me sends me an email when they could of just turned around and asked me the question.
ReplyDeleteIf you cannot speak to someone directly e-mail is the way to go. Type it out, send it and wait for a response. I'm not a big fan of texting but I guess it serves the same purpose but for work issues texting is too tedious for me. Check out the Leno video on The BaDministrator blog.
